The company says the project is intended to give customers a logistics location with both rail access and direct highway connections across the region.

Mainline Texas Industrial Park location and transportation access

Union Pacific says the site is positioned on its main line and links directly to U.S. 90, Highway 36, Spur 10, and Interstate 69. In the same announcement, the railroad notes that this setup is meant to support transportation between major population centers and provide access to international gateways at Laredo, Eagle Pass, and El Paso; Trains.com also summarized the plan.

“We’re excited about the new growth opportunities this park opens up for our customers,” said Kenny Rocker, Executive Vice President – Marketing and Sales. He added that the development is near the state’s largest concentration of people, industry, and commerce, and allows customers to reach more than 25 million consumers within a 250-mile radius.

Rail-served land and Class A development potential

Union Pacific says Mainline Texas Industrial Park will include 1,300 acres of rail-served land and 700 acres for non-rail industrial and commercial uses. The railroad also reports potential for more than 20 million square feet of Class A development, framing the site as a large-scale option for companies planning industrial and commercial expansion in the Houston area.

On-site infrastructure and industrial site features

Along with the land footprint, Union Pacific highlighted several on-site capabilities expected to support industrial operations.

Those features include rail car storage, on-site water and wastewater systems, regional drainage, and access to high-capacity gas infrastructure—elements the company says make the project one of the state’s most robust industrial offerings for customers.
