LTG Cargo Polska expansion has reached the German rail freight market after the company received a Single Safety Certificate in Germany.

The approval allows the company to organize rail freight transport to Germany independently⁠ and operate under its own management, instead of relying on other operators for services in that market.

Laimonas Nekrošius, President of LTG Cargo Polska, said the certificate would allow the company to operate transport to Germany independently.

“Obtaining this certificate in Germany will allow us to operate transport to this country independently, which will result in more efficient and operationally flexible transport services. One of LTG Cargo Polska’s strengths as an operator is the efficient transport of goods between Poland, Ukraine, and the Baltic states, and we have now received a strong boost to expand our operations into Germany. We believe these routes are of great interest to our customers,”

For customers, the change means more reliable services, shorter transit times, and more efficient transport organization because fewer partners are involved in the logistics chain. Direct operation also gives LTG Cargo Polska greater flexibility and a stronger ability to adapt to market demands.

Central and Northern Europe logistics flow

LTG Cargo Polska has also been strengthening its resources for international transport. Last year, the company acquired special railcars for intermodal transport⁠ with support from European funds for the Kaunas (Lithuania) – Duisburg (Germany) route. A larger own fleet allows for more efficient transport planning and improves the reliability of services provided to customers.

The wider development also involves the parent company, LTG Cargo. In 2024, it received rail operator licenses in Latvia and Estonia, allowing freight to move between Lithuania and Estonia without locomotive changes. Combined with the German certificate, this creates conditions for a more efficient logistics flow across Central and Northern Europe.

Alongside its regular intermodal services on the Duisburg – Kaunas route⁠, LTG Cargo Polska also carries petroleum products between Poland and Germany.

The company currently employs 130 people. Its fleet includes more than 350 European-gauge railcars and 20 locomotives, including Siemens-manufactured locomotives used in international freight transport.
