Long Beach cargo flow rose sharply in May, with the Port of Long Beach handling 842,030 TEUs, up 31.7% from the same month last year and enough for its third-busiest May on record.

Long Beach cargo flow by container type

Imports reached 418,851 TEUs, up 40% year over year. Exports rose 32.9% to 109,168 TEUs, while empty containers increased 21.8% to 314,012 TEUs, port officials said in a press release⁠.

POLB cargo volume through May

Through May, POLB handled 4,050,247 TEUs, 0.2% higher than the total recorded during the first five months of 2025.
