London Northwestern Railway strike action is scheduled for two days next week. The operator is advising passengers to plan ahead. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

A heavily restricted timetable will run across the LNR network. It will apply on Friday 22 May and Saturday 23 May. Also, Rail UK reported strike action by members of the TSSA union. LNR said passengers should travel only where necessary. Services will be confined to the limited routes listed below.

Reduced timetable on the LNR network

On both dates, services will operate under a reduced timetable. Trains will finish earlier on Friday. No services will run after 7pm. Meanwhile, Saturday will have a later start of 7am.

“We encourage TSSA to continue talks with us to reach a resolution to this dispute,” said Ian McConnell, LNR managing director. “This strike action will cause disruption to our customers with a significantly reduced timetable in operation on both dates.

“We are doing all we can to minimise the impact as far as possible and apologise to customers for the inconvenience. However, where services are running, we advise customers to only travel if necessary and to allow more time for their journey.”

Limited service routes during the strike

The following routes will have a limited service on Friday 22 May and Saturday 23 May:

  • Birmingham – Liverpool – 1 train per hour.
  • Northampton – London Euston – 1 train per hour.
  • Birmingham – London Euston via Northampton – 1 train per hour.

Separately, train times will be shown in Journey Planners. LNR said no services will operate on any other route. This includes the Trent Valley Line, the Marston Vale Line and the Abbey Line.

In addition, some minor disruption to services is expected on Sunday 24 May. This is due to displacement of trains.
