Leo Express will add Economy Sleeper couchettes to its Frankfurt–Prague–Przemyśl service on July 31, when the route will also switch from temporary buses in Poland to all-rail operation.

All-rail service begins after Polish review

Leo Express has served the corridor since June 25, but passengers on the Polish section have temporarily travelled by bus while authorities completed an economic equilibrium test. The procedure assesses whether a new commercial service could affect existing public-service contracts.

According to Leo Express’s official service update⁠, the review has now concluded, allowing trains to run over the full route from July 31. Passengers will no longer have to transfer between rail and replacement buses in Poland.

The route was originally announced as a daily service⁠ in both directions over more than 1,300 kilometres. Its Polish calling pattern covers 16 stations, including Oświęcim, Kraków, Tarnów, Rzeszów, Jarosław and two stops in Przemyśl.

Peter Köhler, CEO of Leo Express, described Przemyśl as “a natural gateway to Ukraine and a major transport hub in eastern Poland.”

Couchettes add 32 places to the train

Economy Sleeper compartments will accommodate one to four passengers. Travellers can choose either mixed-gender compartments or accommodation reserved exclusively for women, while each coach will provide air conditioning, Wi-Fi and power sockets.

Sleeper fares start at EUR 37.90 and include breakfast. Adding the couchette coaches will increase the train’s capacity by 32 seats. Economy Class tickets start at EUR 9.90, while Business Class fares begin at EUR 24.90.

The service uses coaches meeting the international RIC standard for cross-border operation. Leo Express says its modernised coaches on the German route are equipped with air conditioning and free Wi-Fi.

Timetable and booking windows

Westbound trains will leave Przemyśl at 12:04, reach Prague at 22:32 and arrive in Frankfurt at 07:22 the following morning. Eastbound services will depart Frankfurt at 15:03, call at Prague at 01:17 and reach Przemyśl at 11:25.

Infrastructure works in Germany may alter departure times on some dates, so passengers should check their chosen journey through the route and booking page⁠. Tickets for the Polish section are currently available through August 29, while Frankfurt–Bohumín bookings are open through December 12, 2026.
