Impact of IRCTC fake ID checks on new user IDs
Officials say IRCTC has rolled out a tighter process to establish user identity and detect fake IDs, according to a Press Information Bureau statement from the Ministry of Railways. Fake accounts deactivated and suspicious IDs suspended
Officials said the measures have already helped Indian Railways deactivate 3.03 crore fake accounts. They added that another 2.7 crore user IDs have been temporarily suspended or identified for suspension based on suspicious activities. Vaishnaw has directed officials to keep improving the ticketing system so travellers can book tickets easily using a real and genuine user ID. Related verification measures on IRCTC bookings have also been discussed in Railway Supply’s coverage of Aadhaar-linked checks.
Local cuisine in Vande Bharat trains
Separately, the minister has directed officials to provide local cuisine of the region in Vande Bharat trains, a move also reported by The Indian Express. Officials said introducing food that reflects the culture and tastes of the regions being traversed will enhance the passenger experience, and added that this facility will be expanded to all the trains progressively in future.
