The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County in Texas has opened a new Houston Metro police substation near the Magnolia Park Transit Center. The facility is intended to increase law enforcement presence along the transit corridor and improve response times. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Metro Police Department presence on the Green Line

The facility is located at the eastern end of the METRORail Green Line. It will operate 24/7, according to a METRO press release. Metro Police Department officers assigned to the substation will maintain a visible patrol presence along the corridor, with a focus on rapid response.

In addition, the substation will also be available to partner law enforcement agencies, supporting broader coordination in the region. Riders and residents can use the location to report crimes or suspicious activity.

“Safety continues to guide our decisions, and this investment reflects that ongoing commitment. We will be more visible, more integrated into the community and work every day alongside our community partners to support the safety of our riders and the neighborhoods we serve,” said Metro Chair Elizabeth Gonzalez Brock.
