Hope Island Station opening adds Gold Coast Line stop
21.05.2026
Hope Island Station opening has added a new stop to the Gold Coast Line. It also supports Queensland’s work to improve transport connections in South East Queensland. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Hope Island is the second of three new stations being added to the line. The stations are intended to provide better connections for the region’s growing population.
Hope Island Station facilities
The station includes 210 car-parking spaces and an accessible entry plaza. It also has lifts to each platform, a secure enclosure for 40 bicycles, lighting, and CCTV across the site.
Trains called at the new platforms for the first time on Monday morning.
For members of the community who previously had to travel to Coomera or Helensvale, the station now offers a more convenient rail option.
Also, bus services have been updated to maintain connections with the new station. Existing routes have received extended alignments and operating hours. In addition, a new bus route has been introduced.
Minor timetable changes have also been made at other Gold Coast Line stations. These changes allow for the Hope Island stop.
Gold Coast Line links and Cross River Rail
Member for Theodore Mark Boothman said the station and revised bus links would bring several benefits to the region.
“Hope Island station will help ease congestion on our roads by providing convenient train services to the Gold Coast, Brisbane City, and beyond,” he said.
“It will also relieve pressure on Helensvale station, currently the busiest train station outside Brisbane CBD.”
Hope Island is one of three new Gold Coast stations being delivered through the Cross River Rail project. Pimpama station opened in October 2025, while Merrimac station is under construction.
Meanwhile, Premier David Crisafulli said the Government is delivering a “generational” transformation of Queensland’s rail infrastructure.
“With projects like Cross River Rail, Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail, and The Wave on the Sunshine Coast, we’re building the public transport network Queenslanders need for 2032 and beyond.”
