Hirect Wins ₹60 Crore Vande Metro Development Order

Hirect Limited has secured its first Vande Metro development order from Indian Railways, a domestic supply contract worth about ₹60 crore for execution within 21 months.

First Hirect order for the trainset programme

In a regulatory disclosure dated July 25, 2026⁠, Hirect said the award covers its first development order for a Vande Metro trainset, also identified in the filing as Namo Bharat. Indian Railways is the awarding entity, and the contract is domestic.

The announcement defines the award as a supply order governed by Indian Railways’ terms and conditions. It does not specify the equipment package, number of trainsets, manufacturing site, delivery stages or testing requirements. Those details therefore remain outside the confirmed scope of the contract announcement.

The naming used in the filing is consistent with Indian Railways’ Rail Coach Factory, which presents the platform as Namo Bharat Rapid Rail (Vande Metro)⁠. However, Hirect’s disclosure contains no route, operator or passenger-service information because the announcement concerns equipment development and supply rather than a service launch.

A 21-month execution window

The order is valued at approximately ₹60 crore and must be executed within 21 months. Hirect also stated that neither its promoters nor group companies have an interest in the awarding entity, and that the contract is not a related-party transaction.

Hirect⁠, formerly Hind Rectifiers Limited, manufactures railway electrical and electronic equipment. Its published railway portfolio includes traction and auxiliary transformers, IGBT propulsion systems, converters, battery chargers, traction motors, electrical switchboards, safety electronics and rolling-stock HVAC systems. The company has not identified which of these products, or what other equipment, forms the Vande Metro package.

The verified milestone is therefore Hirect’s entry into this trainset segment through a development-stage supply order; the filing does not establish a broader fleet award, completed delivery or entry into service.
