CRRC Qishuyan completes 100th FXN5C locomotive production
31.03.2026
The 100th FXN5C locomotive production unit recently rolled out. This marks a new high-volume manufacturing phase for CRRC Qishuyan.

According to Railway-News, the model uses an original, platform-based modular architecture. It integrates intelligent connectivity. At the same time, it focuses on increasing hauling power and lowering exhaust levels. These efficiency gains are measurable. Also, a standardized design allows the railway industry to expect better operational returns. This includes a reduced environmental footprint for every trip.
Scaling the 100th FXN5C locomotive production line
This shift toward large-scale assembly follows the independent development by CRRC Qishuyan of the series. To increase single-unit capacity, the locomotive leverages its standardized layout. Modularity remains the priority. Separately, the manufacturer aims to lift operational efficiency by sticking to this approach. This helps in cutting both fuel use and emissions. Still, the milestone shows that the technical platform for heavy-haul freight has reached full maturity across the network.

Advancing the 4,400-horsepower technical platform
Meanwhile, beyond immediate logistics, the project establishes a broader foundation for technical growth. Development of this series allowed China to refine engineering standards for its 4,400-horsepower-class mainline diesel locomotives. Additionally, the achievement acts as a benchmark for domestic rail. It successfully pairs high-power output with updated environmental performance requirements.
