The Lithuanian companies Fegda and Tilsta will build a new double-track railway substructure and engineering facilities on the Rail Baltica section between Kaunas and the Lithuanian-Latvian border. It is reported by Railway Supply magazine with reference to Railway Technology.

LTG Infra announced that the joint venture partners have won two tenders worth approximately EUR 165.54 million for civil works in the Jonava region. LTG Infra is overseeing the implementation of the project in Lithuania.

The contract for the Šveicarija–Žeimiai section is valued at EUR 87.88 million, and the contract for the Žeimiai–Šėta section is valued at EUR 77.6 million. Work on the section Šveicarija–Žeimiai will be completed in a year and a half, and on the section Žeimiai–Šėta – in two years. Fegda and Tilsta will construct the 17.7 km substructure and engineering structures on the 10 km stretch from Šveicarija to Žemiai and the section from Žemiai to Šeta.

All railway works will be carried out without installation of the superstructure of the track. These works include the preparation of land and land plots, the installation of a railway drainage system and a protective fence next to the implementation of part of the access roads. During the execution of the contracts, railway bridges, animal crossings, sound barrier walls and other engineering structures will also be built. Reconstruction and repair of telecommunications and electric networks, reconstruction of federal and national roads will be carried out when laying the track structure.
