The Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) has entered into a contract for the production of 44 passenger cars at a cost of 1 billion 951 million 8 thousand 600 hryvnias, this is reported by the railway transport news portal, Railway Supply.
The Kryukiv Railcar Building Plant emerged as the winner of the tender.
Alstom to Provide Trains for Eurotunnel
Over the course of two years, they plan to manufacture 20 sleeper cars, 12 SV (1st class) cars, nine platzkart (3rd class) cars, and three cars for passengers with disabilities.
«Apart from sleeper, platzkart, and SV cars, which will accommodate our servicemen and civilian passengers, we are also ordering cars with enhanced inclusivity features for wheelchair users. These cars will provide additional comfort for these passengers. All other cars will also be equipped with additional accessibility features. This procurement will also help replace cars that were unfortunately lost due to enemy shelling. We will focus on modernizing the outdated rolling stock,»noted Evgen Lyashchenko, Chairman of the Board of Ukrzaliznytsia.
The cars will be equipped with amenities such as air conditioning, power outlets, USB ports, coffee makers, and lighting control systems. For passengers with disabilities, there will be lift platforms and safety systems.
