Ukrzaliznytsia transported about 11 million tons of cargo in August
In August 2022 Ukrzaliznytsia has transported record volumes of cargo since the beginning of the large-scale aggression of the Russian Federation. The largest increase was shown by export shipments of grain. It is reported by Railway Supply magazine, citing RAIL.insider.
During a meeting with participants in the agricultural transportation market, Valeriy Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Commercial Work Department of UZ, said that 10 million 787 thousand tons of cargo were transported last month. This is 4.5% (469 thousand) more than in July. At the same time, the share of grain in the total range of cargo increased to 18.7%.
In total, 2 million 87 thousand tons of grain were transported, which is 41.6% more than in July. The biggest share of the total volume is the export transportation of agricultural products – 1 million 600 thousand tons. 805 thousand tons proceeded through land border crossings, and 795 thousand tons through seaports.
As for the daily loading of grain, its level increased to 56 thousand tons on average for the month, and on August 31, the most was loaded – 91 thousand tons. The representative of UZ expressed hope that this figure will cross the mark of 100 thousand tons .
Earlier, Vyacheslav Eremin, board member of Ukrzaliznytsia, said that UZ plans to achieve exports of 1.5 million tons of grain per month until autumn.
