Ukrzaliznytsia and Stadler agree on cooperation and localization of the production of Swiss company trains in Ukraine in case of state order
Ukrzaliznytsia and Stadler CIS AG plan to localize the production of passenger rolling stock of the Swiss company in Ukraine. This is stated in a memorandum signed by the Ukrainian side and Stadler management.
In particular, the Ukrainian and Swiss companies agreed to jointly develop passenger rail transport in Ukraine under the City Express project and work to attract funding. In addition, if Stadler CIS AG wins one of the tenders and receives an order to supply rolling stock for Ukrzaliznytsia, the company plans to consider production localization in Ukraine. This is reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply with reference to UZ.
Transmashholding will service electric trains in Bavaria
“We are interested in cooperation with global manufacturers of railway rolling stock, which have proven themselves on other railways around the world, including the wide gauge ones. Stadler, our potential partner, is one of the global leaders in the industry, and our main wish in such a partnership is the localization of production in Ukraine. After all, this is attracting additional funds to the economy and development of heavy industry in our country, “said Ivan Yuryk.
According to the head of Ukrzaliznytsia, Stadler trains can be used in suburban and regional passenger traffic, as well as in the City Express project. “ We invited our colleagues from Switzerland to consider our Kyiv Electric Car Repair Plant as a place of the production,. Stadler technicians visited it and a number of other locations in February this year. This is the optimal enterprise for the localization of production, because its main profile is the modernization of suburban trains, “summed up Ivan Yuryk.
