Most of the trains running from the western regions of Ukraine to Kyiv are more than 95% full, reports the railway magazine Railway Supply.

UZ received 5 new passenger cars

This was reported by the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia on the results of a briefing by the Chairman of the Board of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” Olexander Kamyshin.

“Most people travel from the west to Kyiv. Almost all of our trains are more than 95% full. We calculated that at least 11 000 people return to Kyiv every day by rail alone.“, Olexander Kamyshin said.

The head of the UZ also noted that passengers from abroad are returning en masse to Ukraine by rail. So, from May 1 to May 11, at least 10 thousand people from Europe returned by train.

“In May, Ukrzaliznytsia transported 250 000 passengers, only 10 000 of which were carried by evacuation trains, which is no more than 4%. As of yesterday, we had 177 people from Pokrovsk to Lviv and 30 000 regular passengers. This suggests that people are returning to normal life and the normal functioning of the railway,” stressed Olexander Kamyshin

During the implementation of the evacuation programs, about 3.8 million passengers were delivered by train from the east, south and center of Ukraine to the western regions and 600 thousand passengers from the west of Ukraine to neighboring countries. Ukrzaliznytsia continues to carry out the evacuation where necessary.
