The government will initiate the creation of border railway checkpoints with EU countries
20.10.2022
During a meeting with representatives of the metallurgical industry with the participation of the management of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, First Vice Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Sviridenko said that the government would initiate the creation of border railway checkpoints with the EU countries. Railway Supply writes about this with reference to Ukrinform.
“The government continues to work with neighboring countries of the EU in order to create joint border railway checkpoints. The simultaneous implementation of customs procedures by the two parties should speed up the logistics of Ukrainian exports to the European Union,” Sviridenko said.
The government is negotiating with the Polish side to increase the staff of phytosanitary control workers at the border. And although this applies only to agricultural products, more efficient clearance of such cargo should speed up the entire cross-border rail logistics of Ukrainian cargo.

The ministry notes that the meeting also raised issues of tariff reform and prioritization of logistics between different types of cargo. In addition, the parties discussed changes in the tariff policy of Ukrzaliznytsia and agreed to continue the dialogue in this area.
By the end of 2022, it is planned to open three checkpoints across the state border in western Ukraine: Nizhankovichi on the border with Poland, Krasnoilsk and Dyakovtsy on the border with Romania.
