The first contract for the pilot project for the introduction of private traction at Ukrzaliznytsia

Within the implementation of a pilot project on the admission of private locomotives on public railways, Ukrzaliznytsia signed the first contract with LLC Ukrainian Locomotive Building Company, reports the railway magazine Railway Supply referring to UZ.

The agreement with LLC Ukrainian Locomotive Building Company was signed on December 16, 2020. LLC “Ukrainian Locomotive Building Company” was admitted to participate in projects by orders of the Ministry of Infrastructure №540 and №791, which also identified sections of public railway tracks where the company will begin the project:

  • Stryi – Ivano-Frankivsk; Ternopil – Shepetivka;
  • Shepetivka – Kalinovka 1, Starokonstantinov 2 – Grechany;
  • Starokonstantinov 1 – Grechany; Starokonstantinov 2 – Kalinovka 1, Starokonstantinov 1 – Kalinovka 1, Gusyatin
  • Yarmolintsy – Grechany;
  • Kamyanets-Podilsky – Gumentsy – Balin – Dunaevtsy – Yarmolintsy – Grechany;
  • Sosnovka – Korosten;
  • Sokal – Kleparov.

This is an important step towards the preparation of the opening of the rail transport market, which should be carried out in accordance with the Association Agreement with the EU.
