The bankrupt Engels Locomotive Plant will be put up for sale

The starting price will be 4.1 billion rubles excluding VAT. The planned start date for accepting applications is February 2022. It is noted that the production site of the enterprise is kept in working order and is ready for the immediate launch of the production cycle.

The Engels Locomotive Plant was built by the First Locomotive Company in 2013-2015 as a joint venture with the Canadian Bombardier Transportation and assumed the production of two-system mainline electric locomotives 2EV120. A total of 2 locomotives were built, but the cars were not in demand by Russian Railways.

Construction and equipment were financed by VEB-Leasing, providing a loan for 6.5 billion rubles and equipment on lease. In December 2020, the Arbitration Court of the Saratov Region declared the plant bankrupt at the request of VEB-Leasing.
