Representatives of JSC “NC“ Kazakhstan Temir Zholy ”and LLC“ Urumchi Railway ”(PRC) held negotiations with the participation of interested state authorities of the countries on the issue of increasing the acceptance of freight trains from Kazakhstan at the stations Alashankou and Khorgos. This was reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply with reference to the press service of KTZ.

The information notes that at the end of last year, due to the introduction of tough epidemiological measures by China, up to 22 thousand loaded wagons accumulated at the Dostyk-Alashankou and Altynkol-Khorgos border crossings. One of the reasons is the disinfection of rolling stock on the Chinese side.

The situation with covered wagons with food is especially difficult. An agreement was reached that the Chinese side will take emergency measures to unload them. The Kazakh side announced its readiness to carry out the procedure for external disinfection of wagons on its territory with the involvement of a certified Chinese company.

In general, an agreement was reached to increase the acceptance of freight trains at Alashankou station to 18–20 trains per day, and at Khorgos station to 8–10 trains per day.
