Stadler has commenced the construction of a technical maintenance center for battery trains

Swiss rolling stock manufacturer Stadler is establishing a facility for servicing FLIRT Akku battery trains in the city of Rendsburg, as reported by Railway Supply magazine citing Stadler. Starting from spring 2024, the facility will provide technical maintenance for trains operated by the local operator.

Almost four years ago, Stadler won a tender to supply 55 battery trains and provide their maintenance for 30 years to the transport association of the Schleswig-Holstein region. These trains will start operating at the end of this year on eleven railway lines.

Stadler is investing around €30 million in the construction of a plant in Rendsburg. The new maintenance workshop will be located on an area of 77,000 square meters and will be specifically adapted for working with FLIRT Akku trains.
