Since the beginning of the year container traffic in the United States fell by almost 10%
According to the Association of American Railroads (AAR), in accordance with the results of the 11th week of this year, the volume of freight traffic on US railways fell by 9.3% compared to the same period in 2022. Railway Supply magazine reports this with reference to zdmira .

According to AAR, only a few of the top 10 commodity groups recorded an increase in volumes during this period: coal, cars and spare parts, as well as iron ore and metals. At the same time, a significant reduction was noted for grain, chemical products and mineral raw materials.
In total, in the first eleven weeks of 2023, US railroads transported 5,079,667 wagons, containers and semi-trailers (down 5.2% compared to the same period in 2022), including 2,523,553 wagons (down 0.3%) and 2,556,114 containers and semi-trailers (-9.6%)
