Siemens Mobility has secured its largest order to date, a €500 million contract for the delivery of next-generation Mireo electric trains, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The order includes 41 three-carriage and 18 four-carriage Mireo electric trains, along with 16 two-carriage battery-powered Mireo Plus B trains.

These 75 trains are designated for the expansion of the S-Bahn suburban and urban rail lines in the Leipzig metropolitan area.

The trains are set to commence operations by the end of 2026. Siemens has already entered into a total of 22 contracts, amounting to over 400 Mireo platform trains as of now.
