The route Chizhev – Bialystok is another modernized section of the international Rail Baltica line. The reconstructed stations and stops will ensure comfortable traffic, and the two-level intersections will increase the safety of rail and road traffic. An investment of PLN 3.4 billion is co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility. It is reported by Railway Supply magazine with reference to Nakolei.

Rail Baltica

According to PKP, work on the Rail Baltica section is being carried out with the maximum possible train traffic. On the more than 70-kilometer section from Chizhev to Bialystok, new tracks, a traction network and traffic control devices are being built. Improved access to the railway and the convenience of travelers will be ensured through the reconstruction of 6 stations and 12 stops. In addition, after the upgrade, the speed and safety, as well as the efficiency of cargo transportation, will increase.

DHL switches from road to rail in northern Italy

In Bialystok, you can see the changes at the station. An underpass is being built that will improve the communication of the station with the platforms and the other side of the station. The tunnel will be equipped with escalators and elevators. The outlines of the first new platform are already visible. The track system is being reconstructed – 55 km of tracks will be replaced and 144 turnouts will be installed. New higher platforms are being built at stations and stops. Awnings, signs and LED lighting have been installed. It is planned to install a passenger information and monitoring system. It is planned to reconstruct 38 platforms on the section Chizhev – Bialystok.

Two-level road crossings with tracks replace all level crossings and increase the safety of rail and road traffic. Drivers are already using some of them. Work is underway on 16 of the 25 planned construction of road and rail overpasses. Completion of works is scheduled for 2023, Lapy and Bialystok stations – for 2024.
