Over the five-year period, Belarusian Railways has mastered investments of half a billion euros

In 2016–2020, the Belarusian Railway mastered 1.8 billion rubles (more than 0.5 billion euros) of investments in fixed assets. 54% of them were directed to the renewal of rolling stock, 35% – to capital construction, informs Railway Supply magazine with reference to the press service of the state company.

Among the implemented projects is the opening of regular train traffic on electric locomotive traction on the directions Gomel – Minsk, Molodechno – Gudogai – state border, Svetlogorsk – Zhlobin – Minsk as part of the electrification of the Zhlobin – Kalinkovichi section.

In addition, microprocessor-based signalling system was put into operation at the Zhlobin railway junction. In terms of the volume of work performed, this is one of the largest projects in the 1520 area.

The opening of the Transportation Control Center of the Belarusian Railways became a landmark stage in the introduction of digital technologies into the organization of the transportation process.

In addition, the container terminal of the Brest-Severny station was modernized, which made it possible to increase its average daily processing capacity for handling containers by 1.5 times, and the container storage area by 2 times.

For 5 years, 18 single-section electric locomotives of the BKG2 series were delivered to the railroad, 2 units of five-car passenger electric trains of the EPM series were purchased. Also during this period 4 diesel trains DP3 and 6 units DP6 were received. More than 3.3 thousand freight and 50 passenger cars were purchased.
