More than 60 women in Poland have the right to drive trains

Every year the Polish railway is becoming more and more popular among women in terms of their professional career growth. Currently, there are 61 women in the country who can drive trains informs Railway Supply magazine, citing information from the NaKolei.pl portal.

The Polish newspaper notes that the most likely to meet a woman in the driver’s cab is on the trains of the Polregio company, which carries out regional passenger transportation. There are 19 women working as machinists. In second place is PKP Intercity, a high-speed company, with 8 women operating the trains. Koleje Małopolskie and Koleje Dolnoślskie are also among the leaders.

The youngest woman with a locomotive driving license in Poland is 22 years old, the oldest is 51 years old. Moreover, the overwhelming majority of female drivers are under 30 years of age.

In general, the most widespread railway profession among women in the neighboring country, as well as in Ukraine, is the crossing duty. There are 1230 of them in PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe.
