May 2 marks the 45th anniversary of the largest railway accident in the history of Belarus

May 2, 1977 at 17:10 there was a crash with serious consequences near the waypoint Kryzhovka (Minsk branch of the Belarusian Railway).
This is reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply.
Passenger train No. 280 Grodno-Orsha at a speed of about 35 km/h drove into the tail of suburban electric train No. 548 Olekhnovichi-Minsk, which was standing at the stopping platform.
According to official figures, as a result of the crash, 22 people died (according to unofficial data – up to 200 people), 82 people were injured (18 of which were severe).
