Kazakhstan Railways: Construction of a new railway line
It is planned to build a new railway line Darbaza – Maktaaral. To improve the logistics infrastructure of border stations located in international transport corridors, NC KTZ JSC, together with Uzbekistan Temir Iullari, signed a memorandum of cooperation to study the best options for the effective use of transit potential, informs Railway Supply magazine referring to YuKinform.
The construction of a new railway line Darbaza – Maktaaral will contribute to increasing the throughput capacity of railway sections on the Kazakh-Uzbek border. The commissioning of a new railway line will make it possible to redistribute the traffic flow of the Saryagash-Tashkent line (which is currently very busy) to a new railway line, which will give an impetus to the development of the border region of the Turkestan region.
The new railway line will allow attracting additional cargo from Uzbekistan, as well as reducing stress on the existing border railway crossing Saryagash – Keles and creating new jobs.
