Presented at InnoTrans in Berlin, the latest version of the Resibloc Rail product family is a dry-type traction transformer capable of operating at supply voltages up to 25 kV 50 Hz. The plug and play design is intended to simplify installation for vehicle manufacturers while maintaining the benefits of dry-type transformers which do not contain oil.

Hitachi Energy launched the Resibloc range in 2018 offering a transformer suitable for supply voltages up to 15 kV. The subsequent development of the technology made it possible to increase the input voltage up to 25 kV. Transformers can now also be supplied with a factory-installed cooling system.

“Dry-type transformers provide unparalleled protection for people, property and the environment,” said Bruno Melles, managing director of Hitachi Energy transformer business unit. “This groundbreaking transformer technology will help accelerate the sustainable energy future of the rail industry.”
