The metro station, which will provide transportation to Istanbul Airport by rail, has been built outside the terminal, Railway Supply magazine reported citing RaillyNews.

Istanbul Metro

Transportation expert and IYI MP Suat Sary noted that the station was not built in the terminal, but 300 meters away. “Put a station 300 meters from the airport! For the last 30 years, there has not been such an engineering error in the world. This is a huge engineering disaster,” he said.

This issue was discussed at the October session of the IMM Assembly in Sarachan and the fact of building a station outside the terminal was strongly criticized.

The Dutch Railways fleet will be modernized

Sari noted: “Last week, the M4 metro line Pendik – Sabiha Gokcen Airport was opened. We are very happy about this. This line is 7.4 km long and has 4 stops and, unlike the line to Istanbul Airport, it enters the terminal. The Istanbul Airport Metro, consturuction of which was started in 2015 and is still scheduled to open in the coming months, has a station outside the terminal. Now the elderly, children and the disabled will have to walk 300 meters. It’s a terrible engineering mistake.”
