According to Sven Pertens, Chairman of the Board of Estonian Railways, the decisive factor in the choice was that “Kaido Zimmermann has all the prerequisites for success.” “He has a good reputation, many years of managerial experience in the railway sector, including AS Eesti Raudtee until 2012, deep knowledge of railway infrastructure and logistics, as well as the ability to communicate internationally,” Sven Pertens commented.

For the last four years, Kaido Zimmermann has worked at RB Rail AS (Rail Baltica project) as Head of Planning and Design. He holds a master’s degree in railway construction from Tallinn University of Technology.

The election of the head of the board was preceded by an open competition for this position, which was announced at the end of last year in connection with the resignation of the previous head in December 2020.
