The French engineering concern and the largest Polish oil refinery PKN Orlen signed an agreement on strategic cooperation.

It is reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply with reference to Alstom..

It provides for the provision of fuel for hydrogen trains, which are planned to be delivered to the country in the coming years.

According to Daniel Obaitek, CEO of PKN Orlen, by 2030 the company will invest PLN 7.5 billion (€1.62 billion) in hydrogen technology.

Among other things, the company will provide refueling infrastructure for Alstom trains and set up a special laboratory at the research and development center in Płock by 2025.

It will conduct research and testing of equipment for the production, purification, storage and transportation of hydrogen.

Alstom expects that the concern will become the first supplier of hydrogen trains in Poland.

It is noted that they can begin to be used for regional passenger traffic within two years.
