Alstom is ready to localize up to 35% of locomotive production in Ukraine, but only from the 11th locomotive. It is reported by “Interfax-Ukraine”.

This is necessary in order to take advantage of the French Treasury loan, as the French government requires that at least 50% of the products covered by the funding be manufactured in France, informs Railway Supply  magazine.

That is why the first 10 electric locomotives will be manufactured in France, in order to ensure this 50%; starting from the 11th electric locomotive, production activities will be transferred to Ukraine.

Localization of locomotives production in Ukraine up to 55%

This includes the production of locomotive bogies, including bogie frames, locomotive roofs, locomotive equipment, and testing and certification.

However, already from the first locomotive, Alstom plans to purchase automatic couplings, signaling systems, fire-prevention systems and the like in Ukraine. The company has already signed over 50 Non-Disclosure Agreements with Ukrainian suppliers.
