DFCCIL Northern Railway joint inspection targets DFC readiness
23.01.2026
Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) and Northern Railway have carried out a DFCCIL Northern Railway joint inspection of the New Dadri–Rewari–Ateli section, checking operations, infrastructure readiness, and future connectivity across the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) network, as reported by RailAnalysis.in.

The exercise was presented as another step in aligning new-generation freight infrastructure with the conventional rail system. With closer inter-agency coordination, the two organisations aim to support seamless, safe, and efficient freight movement and to maximise the throughput benefits expected from the Dedicated Freight Corridor.
This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
High-level review of the New Dadri–Rewari–Ateli section of the DFC
A senior delegation led the DFCCIL Northern Railway joint inspection. It was headed by Shri Shobhit Bhatnagar, Director (OP&BD), DFCCIL, and Dr. Monica Agnihotri, Principal Chief Operations Manager (PCOM), Northern Railway.
The group included Shri Nitin Bansal, GGM (OP&BD), DFCCIL; Shri A.K. Shamsi, CFTM, Northern Railway; Shri Vikas Vats, Sr. DOM, Delhi Division/NR; Shri C.L. Choudhary, Manager (OP&BD), DFCCIL Jaipur Unit; Shri V. Chaturvedi, Manager (OP), DFCCIL Corporate Office; as well as senior traffic and operations officers from Northern Railway headquarters and planning units. The same focus on coordinated planning was also referenced via DFCCIL’s official X account.
Infrastructure readiness and operations review along the corridor
Along the route, the joint team carried out an end-to-end review of operational protocols, coordination mechanisms, and readiness for integrated freight movement. Enroute viaducts and tunnels were also inspected to confirm structural integrity, safety compliance, and operational suitability.

At New Dadri Station, officials looked at the yard layout, traffic handling capacity, and the interface with existing railway infrastructure. The programme also covered the Khatuwas CONCOR Siding (CMLK), including multimodal logistics integration, siding connectivity, and container handling potential.
At New Ateli, the delegation assessed the Running Room and its crew facilities for sustained freight operations and crew change requirements. It also examined New Rewari–Kumbhawas linking feasibility, reviewing technical and operational options that could strengthen network connectivity and improve route flexibility.
Future connectivity with the Haryana Orbital Rail Corporation network
A key part of the DFCCIL Northern Railway joint inspection was the forward-looking review of connectivity options, including potential links with the Haryana Orbital Rail Corporation network and integration points between the Dedicated Freight Corridor and the Northern Railway network.
The organisations said this alignment is expected to enhance last-mile connectivity, decongest high-traffic passenger routes, and provide logistics players with more routing flexibility. It also reinforces the corridor’s role in supporting industrial growth across Haryana, Rajasthan, and the National Capital Region.
The joint exercise also reviewed operational harmonisation between DFCCIL and Northern Railway, covering traffic management protocols, crew deployment coordination, asset maintenance interfaces, and emergency response mechanisms. Officials said coordinated inspections help synchronise standards, procedures, and long-term planning to improve reliability, asset utilisation, and turnaround times for cargo operators.
The New Dadri–Rewari–Ateli section is positioned as a vital link within the broader western freight corridor network, connecting key industrial and logistics hubs. Strengthening operational readiness and future integration capacity is intended to support growing freight demand, reduce logistics costs, and encourage a modal shift from road to rail—an objective also reflected in a World Bank project description of DFCCIL and dedicated freight corridor development.
Concluding the visit, DFCCIL and Northern Railway said the joint inspection reaffirmed their commitment to coordinated planning and delivery of safe, seamless, and efficient freight operations on the Dedicated Freight Corridor network.
