PKP Intercity and LTG Link signed a cooperation agreement to gradually enhance international service between Warsaw and Vilnius. Their primary focus is to reduce transfer time at the Mockava station, where trains switch from broad to standard gauge.

Starting in December 2025, this transfer will take no more than 20 minutes, reducing total travel time by approximately one hour. The goal is to bring the trip between the capitals down to seven hours.

According to the 2025/2026 winter timetable, at least two train pairs will run daily between Warsaw and Vilnius, later increasing to four with four-hour intervals.

Additionally, new routes to Vilnius are planned from Poznań and the border city of Suwałki. These will expand the network’s coverage and improve access for passengers in new regions.

Route Integration and Ticketing Service Development

The operators also agreed to coordinate timetables with domestic and international trains. Passengers will be able to make easy connections in Warsaw, Kaunas, and Vilnius.

Ticket purchases will be available on both operators’ websites and apps, including seat reservations for international and connecting domestic journeys.

Future Development and the Rail Baltica Project

By the end of 2025, both sides will introduce a unified rail transport model. This plan includes the acquisition of new rolling stock for use on the future Rail Baltica line — a key infrastructure project for the region.

This approach will accelerate transport development and deepen Poland–Lithuania integration within the broader European network.
