Delivery of nine low-floor tram cars of the S700 series by Siemens Mobility

Siemens Mobility and the Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) have reached an agreement for an additional delivery of nine low-floor tram cars of the S700 series, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
This decision will increase the total number of ordered cars to 45 units.

This agreement is part of the transportation fleet modernization program aimed at enhancing the efficiency of tram lines in the capital of California.
The assembly of the cars takes place at the Siemens Mobility plant in Sacramento, with the first 20 units already undergoing testing and scheduled to be put into operation on the Gold and Green lines in the summer of 2024.
The S700 series cars feature comfortable seating, wide aisles, large windows, and climate control systems.
To ensure accessibility for passengers with limited mobility, retractable ramps and special platforms for wheelchairs and bicycles are provided.
The operation of low-floor cars will improve passenger service and enhance the comfort of public transportation in Sacramento.
