CSX Train Derails Five Cars in Worcester, Mass

USA: Five empty CSX railcars came off the tracks in downtown Worcester late Friday night — and a local streaming camera caught the whole thing on video.
CSX confirmed the derailment happened at about 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 14 near Franklin Street, according to Turn to 10. The incident was recorded live by Railside Live’s public streaming rail camera, which regularly monitors the corridor. No injuries were reported.

Empty cars, no hazmat concern
The five derailed cars were empty at the time, which limited the response to a mechanical cleanup rather than an environmental one. Crews brought in cranes to lift the cars back onto the rails, and CSX has not said when the line fully reopened to normal traffic. The cause of the derailment remains under investigation; CSX has not released findings on whether it involved a mechanical fault, track condition, or another factor.
This is at least the second Worcester-area freight incident this year for CSX, though the source material does not provide comparative data on the company’s Massachusetts derailment frequency.
