CPKC train derailment in Alberta took place on Thursday, Nov. 27, when 34 cars left the tracks north of the village of Champion, according to Global News.

The incident occurred around midday. CPKC and Global News report that no one was injured and no hazardous materials were involved, a picture that is also reflected in coverage by Trains.com. Of the 34 cars, 31 were loaded with grain and three were carrying vegetable oil, while a section of provincial Route 23 running alongside the line was closed, Lethbridge News Now notes.

The village of Champion is located on CPKC’s Aldersyde Subdivision, about 38 miles northwest of Lethbridge, Alta., and roughly 82 miles southeast of Calgary.
