The CPKC Holiday Train: A Tradition of Festive Giving
Since its first journey in 1999, the CPKC Holiday Train has raised $26.1M and 5.4M pounds of food. Its annual route connects seven Canadian provinces and 13 U.S. states. In 2024, it made its first-ever stop in Atlantic Canada, visiting Saint John, New Brunswick. The train’s vibrant lights and live music shows inspire generosity and holiday spirit.

The CPKC Holiday Train also supports smaller communities like Ashcroft, Canada, where the South Cariboo Elizabeth Fry Society has received over $125,000 in donations. The train’s impact grows yearly, thanks to generous attendees and local charities.
How CPKC Holiday Train Counterparts Spread Joy
The Holiday Express, operating in the U.S., visited 13 communities in Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi. This train raised $108,000 for local food banks in 2024. Visitors enjoyed touring its festively decorated cars, meeting Santa, and supporting charities.
In Mexico, the Tren Navideño has delighted underserved communities since 2010. Featuring Christmas lights and cultural elements, it brought joy to nine cities in 2024. Its eco-friendly locomotive and unique designs reflect local traditions.
CPKC President Keith Creel said, “The Holiday Train amazes me with its ability to unite communities while supporting local charities.” Thousands of attendees contribute each year, showcasing the power of festive giving.
