BNSF Metra service extension terms
The new agreement continues a long-standing partnership dating back to 1983. According to BNSF, it begins with a five-year term effective April 1, 2026. It then extends automatically for another five years unless either party chooses to opt out. Also, under those terms, BNSF will continue operating the commuter service on the line.
