Sydney Metro capacity boost measures on the M1 Line add 166 weekly trips. Capacity is increasing during peak periods and on weekends.

Sydney Metro capacity boost on the M1 Line
Three additional trains were ordered for the Sydney Metro Southwest extension. They will be brought into service temporarily. According to Sydney Metro, they will support the uplift.
Meanwhile, this arrangement is temporary. It will remain in place until the next stage of testing begins.
A further 12 weekday M1 Line services have been introduced. They are intended to help manage the morning and afternoon peaks.
Trains will run every three minutes and 45 seconds until Friday April 17.

After the school holidays, more services will be added from Monday 20 April. In addition, peak trains will then run every three minutes and 30 seconds.
Weekend service increase and additional weekly services
At weekends, M1 Line trains will run every seven minutes instead of every 10. That adds 58 services on Saturdays and 48 on Sundays.
Across the metro network, that represents about a 40 per cent increase in weekend capacity.
Sydney Metro Southwest extension and Bankstown extension
The next stage of Sydney Metro Southwest extension testing will require the three trains. Peak weekday services will then return to every four minutes.
Still, the seven-minute weekend timetable will remain in place during that period.
Planned line closures will still go ahead. They will connect the Bankstown extension to the existing M1 Line.
The Sydney Metro Southwest opens later this year.
