BLET tentative labor agreement with the New York, Susquehanna & Western Railway (NYSW) was announced yesterday, as reported by Progressive Railroading.

Ratification ballots are due Dec. 29, and if members approve the package, it would bring wage increases, work rule improvements, and National Health and Welfare Plan coverage for NYSW members.

In its update, BLET said the tentative labor agreement focuses on pay raises along with changes to work rules. The union also noted that ratification would place covered NYSW employees under the National Health and Welfare Plan, according to a BLET news release.

Who is covered and where NYSW runs

The employees involved belong to BLET 521 and are represented by the CP Rail-D&H/PanAm (ST)/SL&A General Committee of Adjustment. The negotiating team included General Chairman Ben Martin, Vice General Chairman Brian Plant, Division 521 Local Chairman Scott Samuel, and assigned National Vice President James Logan.

NYSW operates over 400 miles of track across New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, according to NYSW’s official site. The short line interchanges with CSX and Norfolk Southern Railway.
