Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY) announced the launch of new, modern trains on the Baku-Agstafa-Baku route starting from June 14, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
These trains, manufactured by the Swiss company Stadler Rail Group, were purchased under a contract signed in 2019. Four out of the ten trains have already arrived in Azerbaijan and successfully completed test runs.

The new trains offer comfortable conditions for passengers. Each train consists of five carriages and can accommodate up to 270 people.
The trains provide seating in standard, standard plus, business, and first classes. There is also a bar lounge where passengers can purchase hot and cold drinks and snacks.
ADY is also expanding its services by having express trains stop at the Lekit and Ucar stations, allowing an additional 200,000 residents in these areas to comfortably arrange their trips.
Additionally, the number of trips on the Baku-Agstafa-Baku route is increasing to twice a day, with trains departing in the morning and evening.
To ensure an inclusive society, ADY has implemented comprehensive measures for people with disabilities.
The new trains are equipped with routing systems and auxiliary services, including Braille signage, special entry doors, and sanitary facilities.
The company’s official website features a user-friendly menu for passengers with various health conditions, allowing them to customize the website’s appearance to their needs.
ADY is also actively working on enhancing its environmental responsibility.
In this regard, the use of paper tickets has been discontinued for trains operating on the Absheron circular railway line.
The “ADY Mobile” app has been introduced, enabling passengers to organize their trips and purchase tickets online. Already, 70% of passengers buy tickets online, significantly surpassing the 28% figure from two years ago.
Thanks to these reforms and new initiatives, ADY has achieved significant success in passenger transportation.

In the first five months of this year, about 3.3 million passengers were transported, which is 21% more compared to the same period last year.
In 2023, ADY transported 7 million passengers, more than double the statistics of domestic and international transportation before the pandemic.
The new trains and improved services by ADY aim to further enhance passenger comfort and satisfaction, as well as support environmentally sustainable development.
