In a Super Bowl LX travel advisory for February 8—when the NFL will stage its 60th Super Bowl—Amtrak laid out Capitol Corridor schedule changes for travel to Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. The matchup is listed as the New England Patriots vs. the Seattle Seahawks, with kickoff expected around 3:30 p.m. local time.

Amtrak Capitol Corridor Super Bowl timetable changes

For westbound trips toward the stadium area, Amtrak says several trains are set up to reach Santa Clara Great America Station before the game. Train 737 is scheduled to depart Sacramento at 10:53 a.m. and will terminate at San Jose. The operator also notes that Westbound Trains 729, 733, and 737 will arrive at Santa Clara Great America Station ahead of kickoff, as outlined in the Capitol Corridor Super Bowl LX service notice.

After the game, Train 747 is scheduled to depart Santa Clara Great America Station.

Eastbound service is also adjusted, including one cancellation. Train 736 will be canceled. Train 746 is scheduled to depart San Jose at 7:06 p.m., and Train 748 is set to leave San Jose at 8:08 p.m. Amtrak adds that Trains 746, 748, and 750 will depart Santa Clara Great America Station after the game.

Temporary reservation rule (reservations required) on Feb. 8

The Capitol Corridor is usually described as an unreserved route, but Amtrak says a temporary reservation rule will apply for Super Bowl Sunday. On February 8, 2026, riders must reserve their ticket in advance for travel on the Capitol Corridor, and the requirement will be enforced at all stops on the route.

Amtrak also advises that tickets purchased for other dates—including monthly and multi-ride tickets—and Tap2Ride will not be honored on February 8, a point reiterated in the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority bulletin. For the Super Bowl LX, reservations are mandatory even for passengers who are not traveling to Santa Clara.

According to Amtrak’s Ridership Report, the Capitol Corridor was the company’s sixth-busiest route in 2025 with 1,138,753 riders, up 10.3% from the previous year. Under normal conditions, travelers can buy a ticket at any time and use it within one year of purchase, but the Super Bowl LX reservation requirement overrides that flexibility for February 8.

Santa Clara Great America Station access changes

Amtrak says the best pre-game options are Westbound Trains 729, 733, and 737 to arrive at Santa Clara – Great America Station (GAC). After the game, it recommends Eastbound Trains 746, 748, and 750, along with Westbound Train 747, to depart Santa Clara – Great America Station (GAC).

The route also warns of Santa Clara Great America Station access changes tied to “safety and security measures” for the event. Access and traffic flow at the station are modified from January 5 to February 22, as described in an Amtrak service alert for Capitol Corridor. During that period, parking, shuttles, and rideshare services are temporarily relocated to 2111 West Tasman River. Drivers can enter the station’s parking lot from Tasman Drive at the Lick Mill Boulevard intersection, or from Calle Del Mundo.

Pedestrians are asked to follow posted signs to the designated parking and pick-up areas. A shuttle will be provided upon request, and Amtrak staff will be on-site to assist passengers. Bikes won’t be allowed to access the Stars and Stripes corridor, and traffic will be diverted via a detour.

With the Amtrak Capitol Corridor Super Bowl schedule updates and the temporary reservation rule in place, Amtrak says the February 8 service plan should help thousands of fans reach Levi’s Stadium.
