A train driver suspected of financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been detained in the Russian Federation

A train driver employed by Russian Railways (RЖD) has been arrested in the Amur region of the Russian Federation on suspicion of financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine, according to the railway journal Railway Supply, citing Rail.insider.
The detained individual is identified as 47-year-old Ostap Demchuk, who works as a train driver at the Amur branch of Russian Railways. He was apprehended on June 14. According to the investigation, from September 2022 to January 2023, the man “provided financial assistance to representatives of a foreign state, specifically by transferring money that was subsequently used for the benefit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”
Ostap Demchuk has been placed under arrest, and a criminal case has been initiated against him for “State Treason.” The train driver faces a sentence ranging from 12 years of imprisonment to life imprisonment.
Earlier reports stated that unidentified individuals set fire to a signaling cabinet on the approach tracks of a leading metallurgical plant in Russia.
