Railway Project “China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan”: Details and Prospects
25.06.2024
Recently, some details about the construction of the “China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan” railway project have been revealed, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
This ambitious infrastructure project promises to be a significant milestone in the Central Asian transportation system.
Shunting Yard: Locomotive Shunting Control System
According to “Uzbek Railways,” the cost of constructing the Kyrgyz section of the railway will be $4.7 billion.
The total length of the future railway will reach 486 kilometers, of which 311.8 kilometers will pass through Kyrgyzstan.
This indicates the expected positive impact on the economy and transportation infrastructure of Kyrgyzstan.
Key Features and Construction Plans
As part of the project, 18 railway stations are planned to be built, improving access to transport services for local residents and businesses.
Additionally, 81 bridges with a total length of 26 kilometers and 41 tunnels stretching 120 kilometers will be constructed.
Technical Aspects and Complex Engineering Solutions
One of the key technical aspects of the project is the variety of railway gauges.
The length of the section with a 1435 mm gauge will be 169.6 kilometers, and with a 1520 mm gauge — 142 kilometers.
This variety is due to differences in railway track standards in different countries.
To ensure smooth train movement, gauge changing from 1435 mm to 1520 mm will be organized at the “Makmal” railway station in the Jalal-Abad region of Kyrgyzstan.
This important solution will connect the Chinese and Kyrgyz railway systems, providing a smooth and efficient transport flow.
Significance of the Project for the Region
The “China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan” railway project is of great significance for all participating countries.
Firstly, it will improve transport links between China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, which, in turn, will stimulate trade and economic cooperation.
Secondly, the railway will reduce the time and cost of cargo transportation, benefiting both large corporations and small and medium-sized enterprises.
Moreover, the project will create new jobs in the region, positively affecting employment levels and the well-being of local populations.
In the long term, the railway can become an important factor in the sustainable economic growth and development of Central Asia.
