During the groundbreaking ceremony, Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu emphasized the project’s strategic importance. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan echoed this, calling it a bridge for growth and stronger regional partnerships.

The $2.79 billion investment will fund construction expected to conclude by 2029. The line aims to transport 5.5 million passengers and 15 million tons of freight annually, boosting efficiency and competitiveness across the corridor.

Zangezur Corridor strengthens geopolitical ties

Regional leaders see the Zangezur Corridor as the missing link in the Middle Corridor, also known as the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. This network improves connectivity between Asia and Europe while bypassing congested trade hubs.
