Brunswick Depot revamp and depot upgrades

Brunswick Depot has operated since 1936. It has been upgraded to deliver more tram stabling capacity. It also modernises site facilities to make way for more staff and bigger trams. In addition, the Brunswick Tram Depot Precinct Upgrade outlines safety and accessibility improvements.

For example, the upgrades include a larger car park beneath the elevated rail line. It serves additional depot staff. Also, they include a new tram substation to replace the old one. Meanwhile, the administration and maintenance facilities at Brunswick Tram Depot have been upgraded and extended. They support an increased number of trams and staff.

At the same time, additional tram stabling has been added within Brunswick Tram Depot. It is paired with a new connection into Sydney Road for Route 19 morning run-out. Separately, additional tram sidings on Cameron Street will serve a new terminus. The upgrades also include a new accessible tram stop on Moreland Road. It is intended to improve safety and accessibility, as set out on Engage Victoria.

Also, the Brunswick team celebrated moving back into its newly renovated depot building. They had worked from temporary facilities on site for about a year.
