World tram market news overview

Spanish CAF has won the first tender for the supply of trams to Canada. The € 300 million contract includes the supply and maintenance of 28 seven-section low-floor Urbos trams, as well as an option for 24 units.
Stadler will supply a batch of 25 seven-section narrow-gauge trams for the Swiss city carrier Basel BLT from October 2023 to 2025, reports Railway Supply magazine citing tzdjournal.
The contract, worth about $ 140 million, also includes an option for 15 units and supply of spare parts. The rolling stock will be produced at the Swiss plant Stadler in Busnang and in the future should replace the fleet of 40 trams produced by the local Schindler Waggon in the mid-1980s.

Sofia’s city passenger carrier EAD has realized the option to supply 25 low-floor five-section Swing trams from the Polish Pesa by 2023. At the moment, 37 trams of the Polish manufacturer are in operation in the capital of Bulgaria.
