Wabtec and UGL delivered the first Evolution locomotive for Pacific National, one of Australia’s leading freight rail operators. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The Evolution Series Evo (C94) locomotive, with a power output of 3.4 MW, was manufactured at UGL’s Broadmeadow facility in New South Wales. It is designed to haul heavy container trains up to 1800 meters long.

The contract between UGL and Pacific National was signed in 2021 and includes the supply of 50 mainline diesel locomotives. Valued at $193.4 million, the agreement marks a significant investment in fleet modernization.

The first locomotive is ready for operation, with additional units scheduled for delivery in the coming months.
