Siemens Mobility has introduced the new high-speed train American Pioneer 220 for future High-Speed Rail (HSR) projects in the United States, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The electric train, based on the Velaro Novo technological platform, has been in development since 2013. It is expected to be ready for commercial operation by 2023.

According to the company, the American Pioneer 220 will be more affordable, lighter, and energy-efficient, featuring a party car for entertainment. The news comes alongside a $6.1 billion grant allocation from the U.S. government for HSR construction projects.
The American Pioneer 220 aims to be revolutionary, boasting a speed of 220 mph, 20% cheaper, and 15% lighter than competitors. Siemens anticipates high interest due to improved aerodynamics and innovations reducing energy consumption for traction by 30%.
Designed to effortlessly conquer steep inclines, crucial for routes like Las Vegas to Southern California, this train introduces a party car, adding a touch of luxury and entertainment.
